Collective soul

A few shops are already up and running at the converted warehouse compound known as The Collective on Malugay Street, Makati: Blackbook, a clothing/accessories/art space, Sundae, a purveyor of vintage clothes and new shoes, New Old Bikes, a custom-rehabbed bike shop/silkscreen showroom, and B-Side, a night boite that serves potency in not-so-little teapots. To come: Wabi Sabi, a noodle house/vegetarian grocery; Ritual, Bea Misa and Rob Crisostomo’s repository of organic products; Outerspace Art Gallery; an American-style diner, and several others. The vibe is communal, creative and up-and-coming,  with an ecologically-conscious bent (the shopkeepers intend to bike to work). Could this be Makati’s less hiptarded version of Cubao X? A DIY Greenbelt? Williamsburg?
